Dorsalgia

What is dorsalgia?

Dorsalgia is a disorder of the dorsal spine that causes pain in the posterior thoracic area, which may be unilateral or bilateral and may even radiate to the lateral costal area, and may cause respiratory difficulties.

Dorsalgia can occur as a result of:

  • Respiratory system disorders (COPD, repetitive cough, infections, asthma).
  • Trauma: Rib contusion or rib fractures
  • Bad postures maintained
  • Degenerative processes
  • Stress
  • Weakness or excess muscle tone

How is it treated?

First of all, a global, exhaustive and complete assessment of the musculoskeletal and nervous system is carried out, and depending on the results, we evaluate which type of treatment is the most appropriate for the patient. In a cross-cutting manner, the readaptation team will carry out an intervention through therapeutic exercise

Depending on the degree of injury, and together with the application of technology such as ultrasound-guided percutaneous intratissue electrolysis (EPI), and Echoguided Percutaneous Percutaneous Neuromodulation, Shock waves , Imoove or Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MBST), we will work with a program of control exercises, global postural reeducation (RPG) and/or strength exercises.

The Hyperbaric Chamber can be a great ally in the recovery, thanks to the oxygenation that occurs in the tissues that is produced in the tissues, reduces the recovery times of breaks, wounds, muscle injuries and bone fractures.

In the case of respiratory difficulties, our respiratory specialty unit will respiratory specialty unitwill intervene so that these difficulties lessen or disappear.
